AUTHOR...SPEAKER...ADVOCATE FOR CHILDREN, AND THE IMPORTANCE OF READING
Patricia Goodwin McClellan is a children's author living in Lake Summerset with a mailing address at Davis, Illinois. Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana she started teaching at Holy Spirit School with energetic fourth graders in 1963. Since moving to Illinois, she has taught elementary and junior high at Durand School. With experience in special education and teaching at the Indiana School for the Blind, Pat has the opportunity to understand many children.
An enrolled member of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, she does Native American presentations, talking about the importance of the Indian culture and traditions.
The Anxious Caterpillar was written in 2011. The illustrations for the book were done by her granddaughter, Reagan Riley. Buster Believes came next, and that started her on the journey of writing books for children about therapy dogs. Puppy Nose is the next book in the Buster series. Cara Cares is the last one. They were self-published through McIver Publishing.
All four of the children's books are on the shelf at the Freeport Library, Brodhead, Wisconsin Library, and Durand School. Book signings may be scheduled by e-mailing patmc44@mchsi.com or calling 815-742-6964. Please leave a message and a contact number.
Buster's puppy Cara just couldn't rest with her brothers. She is on a new journey. Cara Mia is in a book called Cara Cares. As a Certified Therapy Dog, the Beagle-Terrier will be living with Lillibelle, whose mother, Fae, is serving in the United States Army. Life is different now after Lill's mom comes home and has PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Animals listen and care about their special children. Listen for the big puppy howl!
Summer Sky is in published. She is a young Chippewa girl who is facing a major change in life. She is a work in progress. Being enrolled in the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe has given Pat a rich knowledge of Tribal Indian customs. Her story will be told for young adults as well as anyone interested in true Indian customs.
